As you know, Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) plans to provide full-day instruction for all TK-12 grade students in fall 2021. With the exception of COVID-19 guidance prohibiting full reopening, All NMUSD schools will return to their pre-pandemic, full-day schedules for the 2021-22 school year. There will not be a virtual, learn at home option connected to your home school; all students attending their home school will be required to attend classes, in-person, everyday.

Families who prefer a virtual learning at home option can transfer to the Cloud Campus for the 2021-22 school year. Additional information about registration and enrollment for the 2021-22 school year will be available soon.

NMUSD schools will continue to adhere to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines, which currently include:

  • Face coverings

  • Space between seating and desks in classrooms maximized and aligned to current CDPH guidance.

  • Optimized ventilation

  • HEPA air cleaners

Throughout the pandemic our District has been committed to safety as our top priority as we continued to increase in-person instruction, as guidance has allowed. With COVID-19 numbers continuing to decline and vaccine availability increasing, we are pleased in our ability to provide full day instruction for the upcoming school year. Having our students back in classrooms full time provides many benefits and we are looking forward to returning to some form of normalcy.

Thank you for your support and continued patience as we continue to navigate challenging circumstances to provide quality instruction to all students.
